kindergarten
August 22nd, 2007

seems like yesterday when I put W on the bus for kindergarten and now T is in school. I didn’t realize how big he was until he GOT off the school bus after his first day with his backpack. He was so tired that he didn’t speak most of the evening. It will take all of us a little while to get back in the routine.
cut my hair

for locks of love. I kind of look like I have a mop on my head. it’s even too short to put in a pony tail
. The little girls with fuzzy heads got to me though, and it will grow back.
and my kids don’t have cancer.
FINALLY!
August 1st, 2007
Done with my class! woo hoo!
Finished the final yesterday. I’m not too sure how I did, because I think I left out some stuff on the MARC codes. oh well. It feels like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulder.
M. is traveling again. L.A. this time. It’s hard being a single mom. The boys really miss him. At least school starts next week and they will be distracted by that. I can’t believe T. starts kindergarten.
Just finished Water for Elephants: A Novel by Sara Gruen. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it.
I’m tired. Too much “boy time” today. We went to the mall in New Orleans and then out to dinner and then Whole Foods. It’s funny how much W. is into clothes and shoes now, when he used to abhor shopping. It’s actually fun to shop with him now!
Knocked Up

Has to be the funniest movie I’ve seen in a long time! I laughed the whole time!
Also just finished a fantastic book- The Glass Castle: A Memoir , by Jeannette Walls. One of those books that I couldn’t put down.
Still taking my class. I’m really resentful about having to write a research paper and study. It’s taking up more time than I would like out of my summer. I’m also not used to writing and it’s hard for me to spit out ideas. Three more weeks and the class is done, although then I start back teaching! Oh well!

I love the sky in New Mexico. You can see forever- such a vast expanse. I also love the dryness of the air, the cacti and the mountains. Such a beautiful, peaceful place.
This afternoon we ate at Bea’s Mexican Restaurant and I had a carne adovada burrito and a sopapilla. It was so yummy. We spent the last weekend at Carlsbad Caverns. Too much family time in the car and hotel, but the boys loved the caverns and had a blast.
Finished a couple of great books so far this summer, which is an amazing feat, with the amount of studying I’ve had. The Breakdown Lane, by Jacquelyn Mitchard was fantastic, as well as Love and Other Impossible Pursuits by Ayelet Waldman . I also read The Ice Queen: A Novel by Alice Hoffman. Now the rest of the summer is devoted to learning MARC codes and figuring out the changes at the Library of Congress! Also need to figure out the difference between XML and MARC. yikes!
Off to ABQ~

19 hours in the car! ugh! the boys are excited, though. It will be nice to see my family and eat lots of green chile! I will miss my 20 year reunion, though, which I have mixed feelings about. I’ve enjoyed reading the message boards put up by the reunion committee and finding out what everyone has done, but it’s still as clique-ish as ever!
Library class is going well- turned in my first assignment online today. I was pretty proud that I was able to complete it. The material is completely new and foreign to me.
adios!
Hurricane Season!
May 21st, 2007
Hurricane Season starts in 10 days! Are you ready?
I didn’t know that it was Hurricane Preparedness week, officially declared by the President. Of course, since he’s done so much for the good people of New Orleans. Ha!
Were we smart to move back? It feels right, but who knows?
On another note, today was T’s graduation. So cute!
Graduation
May 19th, 2007
NHS graduation tonight. It felt rather surreal to be in the SLU auditorium watching the seniors graduate. I never imagined doing that again! They were very excited to be there though and it was fun to see.
Monday is T’s graduation. Should be very cute. His prom was adorable!
Guess I’m not a very good blogger……
May 15th, 2007
It’s been six months since my last post! yikes ! I guess that’s an indication that life is busy.
We are back in Louisiana- in our old house- same job, etc. and it’s all good! I’m very happy to be back and settled. I don’t miss much about C-ville except my friends.
Thinking about graduate school- being a school librarian! Isn’t that the perfect job for me? All of the program can be completed online, which is great.
The last book I finished was Falling through the Earth by Danielle Trussoni. It was a memoir written by a woman whose dad was a Vietnam Veteran. It was fantastic! I think I might read Stephen King’s new book next.
My 20th high school reunion is next month. I won’t be going because I’m going with my family on a vacation. I have mixed feelings about missing it. It would be fun, but also weird.
My goal is to write more for this blog, even though no one reads it! I like to look back at the past and see what I’ve written and what silly things I was concerned about at the time.
Happy Holidays!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted. Too busy and too much going on. I will try to be better in 2007. I’m so excited to move back.
